GOK-Money Saving Ideas
Jan 16, 2012
Money Saving Ideas 1. Budget, budget, budget -- we use Quicken, and it connects our bank, credit cards, mortgage, etc., all in one place. 2. Couponing (my blog is www.somuchforlittle.blogspot.com; it is just new, so the posts will be coming soon—keep checking back). So, a hint is to get one Sunday paper for each member of your family; I get 4 Sunday papers a week to grab the coupons out of. Yes, we DO recycle the parts of the newspaper we do not use. We give them to the SPCA, animal shelter, or local kids art center, Last, I wanted to say that there is a HUGE stereotype that there are no coupons for "good" food. Coupons are NOT just for pre-packaged and "unhealthy" foods. In fact, there are sites dedicated to organic couponing, couponing at Whole Foods, etc. 3. Make a Price Book. A price book is a record of the best prices you've paid for grocery items. With this record in hand, you can tell instantly whether you're buying grocery items at the lowest prices, and not just what the grocery store wants you to think are the best prices. Or, just compare items you shop for at different stores. 4. Use the Entertainment Book (www.entertainment.com): Entertainment puts you in charge of where -- and when -- you save. Enjoy great discount variety and the ease of searching for coupons by neighborhood throughout the US and Canada. 5. Just Between Friends Sale (www.jbfsale.com) Across US. Childrens, Teens, Maternity Consignment Sales Event for everything from toys to books to clothes ...

Have Greater Control over Household Food Cost
Mar 24, 2011
I've been a cook and then a chef for about 17 years. I've had the very good fortune of being taught from a young age how to prepare exquisite, tasty meals. Largely everyone in my family is a good cook; some very, very good, and some better than others. Following those early teachers -- my family -- were a series of foreign and domestic, highly trained and extremely talented, world-class chefs. No one you have seen on the Food Network's cooking classes , and no one widely known to the masses like Gordon Ramsay or Jamie Oliver, but most certainly extraordinary cooks by any measure. I think I'm qualified to teach you many skills and techniques which can be put into action immediately. You will have to take my word for it, for now. www.thriftculturenow.com

Food Storage and other Preparedness ideas
Jan 23, 2012
This is just a quick video about my ongoing adventure with my family being prepared in the home in case of an emergency. I do go over a couple of times that you don't have to buy all of your things at once....as you'll see, a few things extra when you're at the store can go a LOOOONG way. This particular video is really just about food, but the same concept (as I talk about as well in the vid) can be brought into pretty much anything. Electricity (generator or what have you), first aid, ammunition, firearms, clothing.... you get the picture I'm sure. A LOT of people I know fall into the category of "I don't have time or money to go out and buy all this stuff in case something happens" or "Crap! the power's been out for a week...what do we do?" Yeah...get a LITTLE bit here and there and it pays off BIG later! If that firearm or generator you want to get is really REALLY expensive in your eyes, yet you really think it's something you need or want.... SAVE UP for it and get it when you have the chance. I know this sounds a bit silly or even TOO SIMPLE, but get a piggy bank, or make a stash somewhere and tell yourself that THIS money is for WHATEVER and you CAN'T SPEND IT! SAVE IT! You'll be surprised on how much your money adds up when you just keep dumping "extra" money that you had in your wallet into your "savings". That's EXACTLY how I bought my Glock 23! And it felt GREAT when I went to my local FFL and dropped down that wad of CASH. "Cash or credit?" "CASH BABY! BAM ...
